
In an article titled, “Why the Future of Christianity Is African and Female,” Gina Zurlo (co-Director of the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) presents some interesting statistics:
- Christian women are more likely [than men] to
- attend weekly church services (53% versus 46%)
- pray daily (61% versus 51%)
- say religion is important in their lives (68% versus 61%)
- In 1900, 18% of the world’s Christians lived in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania
- Today that figure is 67%
- Africa is home to 27% of the world’s Christians
- United States and Canada are home to just 11% of all Christians in the world
