Isaiah 65:25

Last night a friend of mine’s pet cat died. She shared her home and her life with that cat for years.

I don’t know whether there are animals in Heaven or not. Isaiah offers hope:

The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
and dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord.

Isaiah 65:25

My friend told me that right before the cat passed, it purred in my friend’s arms.

Without having to speculate about anything that may or may not be true of God’s eternal Kingdom, what I could say with absolute certainty was what an amazing gift my friend had given her longtime companion when she held the cat peacefully in her arms as it died.

I can’t help but think that it’s always okay to share God’s loving embrace with any of His worldly creatures.

What a wonderful final gift to give to a dear friend.
