Happy Anniversary

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this week.

Jimmy Carter was the first born-again Christian elected President of the United States.

Although he served only one term as U.S. President, he and Rosalynn have continued to serve Christ throughout their lives.

“I believe now, more than then, that Christians are called to plunge into the life of the world,” he writes in Faith: A Journey for All, “and to inject the moral and ethical values of our faith into the processes of governing.”

Jimmy Carter, now age 96, still teaches Sunday School at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, GA, and according to CNN, he and Rosalynn, now 93, had “built, renovated or repaired more than 4,300 homes alongside more than 100,000 volunteers across 14 countries” by 2019, before the global pandemic put a damper on many projects of Habitat for Humanity.

Their secret to such a long happy marriage is:

“We try to forgive each other every night for any differences we may have had during the day. We try to read the Bible every day. Most of the time late in the evening,” he said. “And we try to reconcile and never go to sleep with any lingering argument.”
