I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,
Deuteronomy 30:19
It’s amazing to me how many people who consider themselves Pro-Life take the opposite of a Pro-Life stance with respect to their own pandemic behavior.
I believe that being Pro-Life means being anti-Senseless Premature Death at ALL stages of life, not only pre-birth. In my opinion this is a topic that Pro-Life pastors could address from the pulpit. It’s not political. It’s about taking good care of God’s Creation, and that includes His already-born people.
The reason for following public health practices designed to reduce the spread of the pandemic virus is not because a human-imposed law requires you to do it and penalizes you if you don’t. The reason to voluntarily do whatever we can to reduce the spread of the pandemic virus is to care well for our communities, to love our neighbor as ourselves, to take good care of God’s people, including those who are frail and vulnerable, each of whom He created in His image, with a purpose to fulfill on His earth.
It is not for us to say, “I’m willing to sacrifice other people’s lives so that I can carry out my worldly plans without altering my own behavior.”
God expects us to care for one another.
If you find yourself driving a vehicle that is heading straight toward a pedestrian, God does not expect you to say, “Well, I’m not afraid because my vehicle will protect me from harm and if God wants the pedestrian to live He will protect the pedestrian.” He expects you to apply the brakes.
Pro-Life means taking care of all God’s children, not only those yet unborn.
