Psalm 139

My newly adopted church suggested that we pray Psalm 139 every day this week:

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my cares!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

I’m doing that this week.

LK-me is still totally blown away that the Holy Spirit dwells within us (not sure if I’m saying that right — still learning new vocabulary words), to help us become ever more like God wants us to be and guide us away from sin.

I knew none of these concepts or vocabulary words when I first met the Holy Spirit.

But having had that experience — the experience of being stopped in my tracks from sinning and told with unmistakable clarity, “You must change. I will not let you fail.” — that was such an amazing life-changing experience … the absolute first-hand knowledge that with God all things are possible, including rooting out and fixing “any grievous way in me.” And that last part, “I will not let you fail,” is HUGE.

I no longer hope to hide my sins or feel ashamed – I WANT God to see my faults, to make me aware of them and help me to change, to “lead me in the way everlasting!”

Yes! Search me, O God, and know my heart! Every day, every minute. Show me the way.

Amen.
